Genesis 41:38

August 15, 2015

I never share things like this. I used to publish them in the church’s newsletter, when we had one, lol. I have read Genesis Chapter 41 literally hundreds of times over the years, in almost every translation and version. I have read that chapter too many to recall, at the Lord’s Direction. Genesis 41:38, always stood out to me, but I think that it’s fair to say that I never understood why it did.

Joseph had just gotten out of jail. He probably should have been killed for Potiphar’s wife’s actions, but he ended up in Potiphar’s jail instead. As usual, he and his Gifts made him into the chief administrator, this time of the jail. His Gifts always ‘made room for him’ (Proverbs 18:16). Two years, plus, after being sent to jail; Pharaoh had a dream that no one could interpret. So Joseph’s Gift brought him before the King, in order to have God through Joseph, interpret Pharaoh’s dream (Genesis 41:16).

Needless to say, when God showed up for the first time in the Egyptian Palace, Pharaoh and his minions were all impressed with Joseph’s interpretation of the dreams! Then Joseph’s other Gift took over and he began to explain to Pharaoh and the fellas how to organize the pending food shortage. The minions as well as Pharaoh himself were even more impressed! Obviously, they needed a Chief Administrator to organize the mess that they were about to have on their hands.

They said in Genesis 41:38 (ERV): Then Pharaoh told them, “I don’t think we can find anyone better than Joseph to take this job! God’s Spirit is in him, making him very wise!” It was abundantly obvious to Pharaoh’s court that Joseph had the Ruach Elohim (Spirit or Breath of God in Hebrew) in him, which enabled him to not only be Gifted enough to translate Dreams that he did not have, but to also Instruct others regarding the Organization of a New Government Program!

Genesis 41:38, Names of God Bible (NOG)

So Pharaoh asked his servants, “Can we find anyone like this—a man who has Ruach Elohim in him?”

God gives us all many gifts and talents. They all “make room for us and bring us before great men, authoritative men, and the right men or people.” (Proverbs 18:16) This means that our Gifts, Talents, and more importantly Purpose(s), as well as, the things that God shows us about ourselves, will ultimately bring us into the company of the correct person and or people so God can fulfill that Purpose: Not just in our lives, but more importantly He wants that Purpose to be Fulfilled in the Earth that He might receive Glory.

Know that the Purposes of God are bigger than us to whom they have been Revealed. Know that in time you will be brought before the right person(s) of authority in order to execute and display those Gifts and Talents, so that the True Purpose can be Fulfilled. And know that the Gifting’s in your life …

… Are Obvious … To Them …
